Coyotes Update:

8.2.06 

The Coyotes lost to the St. Patrick Irish 12-2 and the New Prague Orioles 4-1 in the DRS Playoffs to end their season.  Matt Grieble pitched 6 innings against the Irish giving up eight runs.  Sam Pond scored both runs for the Coyotes and Josh Gregor had the lone RBI in the game. 

Against the Orioles on Friday night Scott Greening pitched the complete game in the loss.  The Coyotes pounded out 11 hits lead by Mike Shromoff with three.  Craig Shromoff produced the only run for the Coyotes hitting  a solo homerun leading off the top of the 8th inning.

The Coyotes finished the regular season on a high note beating the Montgomery Mallards 8-3 Tuesday night.  Matt Grieble had a strong showing on the hill going 7 1/3 innings to get the win. 

7.17.09

The Coyotes have lost their last three games.  Last weekend they fell to the New Market Muskies 10-9 and the Union Hill Bulldogs 15-5.  Wednesday night the Coyotes lost 11-1 to the St. Benedict Saints.

7.6.09

The Coyotes lost 10-2 to the St. Patrick Irish Sunday afternoon.  They jumped out to the early 2-0 lead after 4 consecutive hits to start the game, but the Irish scored 10 unanswered runs after the first inning.  The Coyotes got hurt by two costly errors, 1 in the first and 1 in the sixth.  Matt Grieble took the loss on the hill.  Bill Dunker pitched 8 innings to get the victory for the Irish.

On another note, Mike Wolf and Josh Gregor won the first ever Independence Day Cup Euchre Tournament Saturday afternoon.  The two Coyotes beat Derek and Kyle Bergstrom in a best of 3 series that was broadcast on KCHK radio.

7.3.09

The Coyotes lost 16-1 to the Union Hill Bulldogs Wednesday night.  Cord Harguth tripled and scored the Coyotes only run.  Alex Gregor took the loss on the mound.

6.29.09

The Coyotes traveled to Hinckley this past weekend to participate in the Hinckley Knights baseball tournament.  The locals lost a pair of games Saturday and were eliminated from the tournament.  In the first game the Champlin Logators beat the Coyotes 8-2.  Alex Gregor took the loss on the mound pitching 5 1/3 innings giving up 3 earned runs while striking out 7.  Scott Greening led the offense with two hits.

In game two the Coyotes lost to the Hibbing Miners.  Scott Greening pitched the complete game giving up 3 earned runs while striking out 6 and walking 4.  Cord Harguth led the offense by hitting a 2 run homerun, his 3rd of the season, in the second inning and tacking on a single later in the game.  The Coyotes offense was only able to muster 3 hits in the game and left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh.

The Coyotes continued playing good baseball Sunday afternoon beating the Webster Sox 11-4.  The Coyotes got on the board first as Andy Lazzari hit a sacrifice fly to score Craig Shromoff in the first inning.  The Coyotes then scored two more in the third before Webster scored 3 of their own in the bottom of the third.  The Coyotes answered right away in the top of the fourth with 6 runs, highlighted by a 3-run homerun by Cord Harguth, his second of the season.  Scott Greening went the complete game to get the victory.

6.19.09

The Coyotes lost 11-10 to the Prior Lake Mudcats Wednesday in a back and forth battle.  Prior Lake got the early lead scoring 2 in the first and 3 in the second.  The Coyotes got 1 of their own in the bottom of the first but the score remained 5-1 until the 5th.  The Coyotes scored 5 in the 5th to take a 6-5 lead.  There were three more lead changes in the game before it was all said and done.  The Coyotes left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth to end the game.  Alan Alger lead the offense collecting three hits.  Ben Lazzari took the loss in relief.

6.14.09 

The Coyotes split a pair of DRS games this weekend losing to the Lonsdale Aces 5-3 Friday night and then beating the St. Benedict Saints 5-4 Sunday afternoon.  The Coyotes got strong pitching in both games.  Alex Gregor went the complete game in the loss to the Aces.  Scott Greening pitched six innings giving up 3 runs.  Ben Lazzari pitched the final 3 innings to pick up a save giving up 1 run.  The bats have come alive for the team a little bit as Nick LaTour homered Friday to lead off the game and Mike Shromoff and Cord Harguth both homered in the St. Benedict game.
